Renowned folk singer Shaukat Ali has passed away.
He was undergoing treatment at Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Lahore. He had faced multiple medical issues, including diabetes and a liver transplant. Moreover, he had undergone a heart bypass surgery a few years ago. The Ghazal maestro was one of the most prolific artists of the Pakistani music industry, with a singing career spanning five decades.
Born into an artistic family in Malakwal, he had begun his singing career in the 1960s with film songs. He was introduced in 1963 by musician M Ashraf in the film Tees Maar Khan and cemented his place in ghazals, songs, national anthems and Punjabi folk songs. He was also a recipient of the Pride of Performance award.

ਕਿਸੇ ਫ਼ਨਕਾਰ ਦਾ ਅਚਨਚੇਤ ਤੁਰ ਜਾਣਾ ਬੇਹੱਦ ਦੁੱਖਦਾਈ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਇੰਝ ਹੀ ਅੱਜ ਸਾਂਝੇ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ ਮਾਰੂਫ਼ ਆਵਾਮੀ ਲੋਕ ਗੁਲੂਕਾਰ ਸ਼ੌਕਤ ਅਲੀ ਸਾਹਬ ਲਾਹੌਰ ਵਿਚ ਇੰਤਕਾਲ ਫ਼ਰਮਾ ਗਏ।
ਸ਼ੌਕਤ ਅਲੀ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਲੋਕ ਮੌਸੀਕੀ ਦਾ ਬਹੁਤ ਵੱਡਾ ਨਾਮ ਸੀ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਫ਼ਨੀ ਸਫ਼ਰ ਦਾ ਆਗਾਜ਼ ਤਾਂ ਫ਼ਿਲਮੀ ਗਾਇਕੀ ਤੋਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ ਐਪਰ ਸ਼ੁਹਰਤ ਰੇਡੀਓ ਅਤੇ ਟੈਲੀਵਿਜ਼ਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਇਕ ਅਹਿਦਸਾਜ਼ ਲੋਕ ਫ਼ਨਕਾਰ ਦੇ ਤੌਰ ਉੱਤੇ ਮਿਲੀ ਸੀ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਬਤੌਰ-ਏ-ਖ਼ਾਸ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਜ਼ੁਬਾਨ ਦੇ ਅਜ਼ੀਮ ਸੂਫ਼ੀ ਸ਼ਾਇਰ ਮੀਆਂ ਮੁਹੰਮਦ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ ਦਾ ਰੂਹਾਨੀ ਕਲਾਮ ਸੈਫ਼-ਉਲ-ਮਲੂਕ ਗਾਉਣ ਵਿਚ ਜੋ ਕਮਾਲ ਹਾਸਿਲ ਸੀ ਉਹ ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਗਵੱਈਏ ਦੇ ਹਿੱਸੇ ਵਿਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਇਆ ਸੀ । ਉਹ ਗ਼ਜ਼ਲ, ਗੀਤ, ਤਰਾਨੇ ਅਤੇ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਲੋਕ ਗੀਤਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਮੁਖ਼ਤਲਿਫ਼ ਅਸਨਾਫ਼ ਗਾਉਣ ਵਿਚ ਵੀ ਇਕ ਖ਼ਾਸ ਮੁਕਾਮ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਸਨ। ਸ਼ੌਕਤ ਸਾਹਬ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਥੋਨੂੰ ਜੰਨਤ ਵਿਚ ਜਗ੍ਹਾ ਨਸੀਬ ਕਰਨ !!
